Curriculum Leader & MTSS Chair
I have proudly spent my entire educational career at Rosinton Elementary School. After completing my student teaching at Rosinton in 2009, I began my teaching career here, teaching both 5th & 1st grade. In 2018, I transitioned into Rosinton's ARI Local Reading Specialist (LRS), where I spent eight years supporting literacy instruction, coaching teachers, and leading schoolwide academic initiatives. These experiences strengthened my passion for helping both educators and students succeed.
I am excited to now serve as Rosinton's Curriculum Leader, continuing to support teachers and students while also serving as the MTSS and Intervention Chairperson, Building Testing Coordinator (BTC), coordinator of Summer Learning Camp and Tutoring, and facilitator of 3rd Grade Literacy Act Portfolios (LAPs), along with many other roles.
I am a proud graduate of Robertsdale High School (Go Bears!), I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Alabama, a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Reading from Grand Canyon University, & a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. My professional certifications and training include LETRS, Cognitive Coaching, Kagan, PLC at Work Institute Trained, Neuhaus Structured Literacy, Phonics First, SPIRE, and Dyslexia Awareness Train the Trainer.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two children, and our two German Shorthaired Pointers. You can find us at multiple sporting events for our son, spending time on our boat, & traveling, especially to the beautiful Caribbean islands.

Makenzie Cunningham
K-5 Building-Based Math Coach (BBMC)
I am excited to serve as the Building-Based Math Coach at Rosinton Elementary School. With 12 years of experience in education, I have had the opportunity to teach special education, second grade, third grade, and fourth grade before transitioning into instructional coaching and teacher support.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping students develop confidence in their learning while supporting teachers in implementing engaging, research-based instructional practices.
My professional certifications and training include LETRS, Cognitive Coaching, Kagan Instructional Coaching, and Kagan Ambassador certification. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to collaborative learning, effective coaching practices, and continuous growth for both educators and students.
As the Building-Based Math Coach, I partner with teachers to strengthen mathematics instruction, analyze student data, and support high-quality learning experiences that help all students succeed. I believe that strong relationships, collaboration, and a growth mindset are key to creating a positive and successful learning environment.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, creating hand-painted banners, exploring home décor and thrift finds, and finding creative ways to bring joy and connection into everyday life.
I am honored to continue serving the Rosinton Elementary community and look forward to supporting our students and teachers as we learn, grow, and achieve success together.
Heather Duncan
K-3 ARI Local Reading Specialist (LRS)
I am a proud 2005 graduate of Robertsdale High School—Go Bears! I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Alabama (Go Jags!) and later completed my Master of Education in Literacy through the American College of Education.
After completing my student teaching at Rosinton School in 2008, I have been blessed to spend my entire career serving the students and families of this special community.
My husband and I have three beautiful daughters, and it has been a joy to experience this school not only as an educator, but also as a parent. I’ve had the privilege of teaching each of my girls in kindergarten and watching them grow up in these halls. Rosinton has truly become an extension of our family.
While I spent a brief time teaching fourth grade, the majority of my career has been devoted to some of our youngest learners in kindergarten. Those years strengthened my passion for teaching children to read and building the foundation for lifelong learning.
My philosophy has always been simple: the child before academics. Every child deserves to feel loved, supported, and valued while developing the confidence to believe they “Can do hard things!”— a motto in my classroom.
This year, I am honored to step into a new role as Rosinton’s Reading Coach, carrying with me the same passion and purpose that have guided me since day one. My desire is to come alongside our educators with a servant’s heart, encouraging, equipping, and celebrating them as they shape young lives and impact the future of our community. Together, we will continue fostering a love of reading and creating opportunities for every child to reach their fullest potential.
